Report of the first CCI seminar about Employment Protection in Norway
The Competence Center for Immigrants (CCI, http://www.workinginnorway.no) and Chinese Professionals in Norway (CPN, www.cpn2003.org) arranged a successful seminar on June 16th 2015 at Litteraturhuset. The topic of the seminar was about the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven) with the title ‘Employment protection in Norway – what are the basic rules?’. This seminar is a part of the CCI project in 2015, supported by The Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi).
Mr. Tron Dalheim from the Arntzen de Besche law company was the invited speaker at the seminar. With 15 years of experience on employment law, he is a high rank lawyer and partner in the employment and pensions practice group of the company, and is admitted to the Supreme Court bar. His talk covered the basic employment law issues, such as temporary and permanent employment, working time, leave of absences, termination of employment, transfer of business, discrimination and conflicts at work place, etc. A lot of interesting cases and examples were used to make the seminar understandable.
The contents of the seminar were both relevant and interesting. Around 50 persons with the background from 12 countries attended the seminar. The whole seminar was held in a high temper with many questions by the audients and the excellent answers from the super capable speaker. At the end, we had to stop all questions so that the speaker could finish the presentation.
We got very good feedback after the seminar. Many participants feel the seminar was quite useful. They hope we can arrange more such seminars and activities in future.
The presentation from Mr. Tron Dalheim is published in http://www.workinginnorway.no.
