Immigrant workers are facing some common challenges in their working life, no matter if they enter a job inside or outside Norway. One of the biggest issues is to get know regulations of work in Norway and practice it at work. For most immigrant workers, they need to learn applicable laws and regulations, in addition to their professional competences, language, and communication skills. It is believed that new knowledge as such will lead to successful carrier in Norway. This workshop aims to gain knowledge on Norwegian regulations via lecture and to gather issues, which affect the working life via group discussion.
Chinese Professionals in Norway (CPN) is an immigrant organization that has through previously work built up a strong competence in helping immigrants with job search, understanding the work culture and developing solutions for different challenges at work. CPN also has through its highly educated members a broad contact network in the Norwegian society, in addition to close cooperation with other immigrant organizations and the public sector that manages instruments for innovation.
The workshop is financed by the Oslo Commune, free of charge and will be held in English. Guro J. Skåre-Jullum is one of the most scolared advisors regarding Health Security and Environment (HSE) in Norway. She is a trained human geographer and wrote her thesis as a student research fellow at Chr. Michelsen's Institute in Bergen. She has a long and solid background as coordinating chief safety delegate in Bærum municipality. She has particularly contributed to the development of the HSE systematics and emphasizes the exercise of roles related to the work-environment in Norway, to make it as efficient and good as possible.
